CAMEROON TO PLAY THE FIFA CONFED DESPITE FECAFOOT TROUBLES

A letter, sent to FIFA president Gianni Infantino by Abdouraman Hamadou Babba, president of the Etoile Filante de Garoua club, says that FIFA has breaking its own statutes and refusing to accept the ruling of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in November 2015 by recognising Tombi A Roko Sidiki as the Cameroon FA (FECAFOOT) president.

With news regarding Cameroon's future at the upcoming 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup under a cloud of controversy, FIFA says the Indomitable Lions will participate in Russia.

The reports follow developments in the Central African country that a Cameroonian club, Etoile Filante de Garoua has argued that Cameroon's Football Federation has no authority to send the African champions to the tournament.

FECAFOOT is led by Tombi A Roko Sidiki, and Etoile Filante believes his leadership is not recognised and have approached the world's football governing body regarding this matter.

Although FIFA has acknowledged that the association has leadership issues, FIFA insists no one should rock the boat for the time being.

"FIFA is in contact with the football stakeholders in Cameroon to try and find a solution to the dispute that has been affecting the federation for some time,” reads a statement from FIFA.

"While discussions are ongoing to resolve these governance issues football continues and the status of the national representative teams is not in question."

On another note, Cameroon were banned from global football in July 2013 prior to the establishment of a FIFA-approved Normalisation Committee.

Subsequently, Sidiki and his executive committee then resumed office after the September 2015 elections.
