"Cameroon Football Player Exonerated of Age Fabrication Allegations"

"Discover the story of a Cameroon football player cleared of age fabrication accusations. Follow the journey of exoneration in this compelling tale of integrity and fairness in sports."

Cameroon's Nathan Douala, initially suspended for allegedly falsifying his age, has been cleared of the accusation.
🇨🇲🚨. Bernard Tchoutang:The president of Opopo has provided proof to FECAFOOT that Bardelli was the elder brother to Nathan Douala who has passed away.
The 17-year-old player, surprisingly chosen for Rigobert Song's team in the Ivory Coast tournament, was among 62 players suspended by the Cameroonian Football Federation, FECAFOOT.

According to renowned French football journalist Hanif Berkane's tweet, Douala has been reinstated in the league and can participate in the playoffs with his team.

While Song's talent discovery was praised, Douala did not play in the tournament as Cameroon exited in the last 16 against Nigeria.

This incident echoes previous age-related controversies in Cameroon. In 2022, the federation summoned 44 players from eight clubs over age or identity concerns, reflecting president Samuel Eto'o's commitment to addressing the issue. Similarly, in January 2023, 21 members of their Under-17 squad were disqualified for similar reasons.

Age fraud continues to plague African football, particularly at junior levels, tarnishing the continent's international achievements.

FECAFOOT's recent actions demonstrate ongoing efforts to maintain integrity and fairness in the sport, aiming to eliminate age-related controversies and preserve the game's credibility.
